Yesterday I finally decided to go ahead and order a Lang 36 Hybrid Patio. It's the same as the original patio version with a warmer and chargrill attached. It's so new that they don't even have a picture of it!
I was really wanting to have a custom built smoker and had two guys that wanted to build something for me. One guy just completed a 1,000 gallon reverse flow smoker for Sonny's BBQ and has two more to build. The other guy has one of the most beautiful grills I had ever seen but it wasn't reverse flow.
After doing a lot of research I finally went with Lang. I talked to Ben the owner and also his son. (Maybe Bens wife also). They are really a great bunch of people. The smoker gets nothing but great reviews and eventually it was an easy decission.
The manufacturing plant is in Southern Georgia and I'm in Central Florida. It would be a 5 hour drive to get there and another 30 minutes north to find a hotel. The problem I had is that I couldn't find a trailer in my area or in the area of Lang! I guess because it is just a few days away from Memorial Day when it would be completed and everyone must have rented all the trailers. Oh well, I'll just have to wait a few extra days unless they complete the smoker sooner than they have scheduled.
End result, I can't wait!
BTW- Thanks DaveO for posting your pics of the Lang 36 you had delivered. It let me get an idea of what to expect. I do imagine with the warmer box and chargrill it will be a bit heavier and longer!
I'll keep you posted when it arrives and will post up some LANG-View!
