I have an old smoker that was used with gas to use as a grill and a firebox for wood for smoke. It has two racks inside. One had ceramic brickettes on it with the 2nd rack about 4 inches above that. The propane jet heated the left side and you cooked on the right side. Grease and fats dripped down on the ceramic briquettes to add flavor. Unfortunately it has been left out in the weather too long and has a lot of rust. I was going to modify it into a reverse flow smoker but I'm handicapped and can't do it anymore. So I ordered a 36 inch Lang. Even though the bottom is rusted out pretty badly, its still too good to go to the scrap pile. Someone with a welder and some time could make himself a dandy reverse flow smoker.
