Old country all American grill rust. Problem

I have the opportunity to get an old country all American smoker for free. It is two years old and has only been used once. My main concern is that the firebox is rusted. I have not been out to see it but do have pictures. Should this be that big of a concern? Is it something some elbow grease could fix? I have attached a picture that I received of the smoker that shows the rust.
