Hello DSR and welcome! I have been using a Oklahoma Joes offset smoker for years, not an electric one. I am more of a stick burner than electricity. I find I get more satisfaction from it. I am not knocking the electric smokers by all means, it's whatever suites you and what you'd like to do. There are some stick burners that will go up agains the electric ones any day. You need to master whatever system that you're working with.

I do have fun with mine and when I do a long smoke, i.e. a brisket or briskets, it gets challenging. The results are in my family and friends that enjoy eating it. That's what I take great pleasure in seeing.

Enjoy whichever route you go. Smoke up your neighborhood and most of all have fun.

Last but not least, this is a great place to have questions asked, even as you're smoking.
