Ok here is what i got for christmas and my birthday and i have a few questions.

First off all the parts on the grinder and stuffer are greased up pretty good should these parts be washed before i use them?

If i do wash them should i lube them up again with pam or something like that?

I'd give both a thorough washing in hot, soapy water before use and dry well. They can always be re-lubed.

I have no idea of the manufacturer's standards with regards to the cleanliness of their process, the handling, packaging, etc.

Since we're talking raw meat products here for human consumption, I'd take the extra step of cleaning before use.

I clean EVERYTHING before I use it. I don't take chances with anything that touches my food

For lubrication I have been using mineral oil till I get some food grade silicone spray.

Lube attracts dust just like the armor-all you put on your dashboard. I store it dry and lube it before use.....

Definitely a good washing.  This time and every time!

Most of these parts don't require a lot of lube.

Good luck and good smoking.

Hey Lenny,

I always wash with soapy water after ea use and dry thoroughly then cover with kitchen towels to

prevent dust, then apply sm amount food grade grease before ea use,

Is that a kitchner stuffer??? It sure looks like it.  Just a word of advise. DO NOT order a 3/8 suffing tube (lem) for this stuffer. I did...........and broke my stuffers plastic gears today while stuffing beef sticks. I do not believe the kitchner is made stong enough for the 3/8" tube.........and quite possibly why kitchner does not make/sell that size tube.

I cover my stuffer with a old pillow case when not in use keeps dust off a little more but I still wash before using also
