I have been bbq'ing for about 3 years now and I just do it casually to feed myself, family and friends. Its an absolute love of mine when I can find the time.

I've had a WSM 18.5" for the last 3 years and just recently picked up a Masterbuilt propane smoker as well. My search on finally breaking down to get a good thermometer and any smoker mods that would benefit me is what brought me here so if anyone has suggestions for either please let me know. Thanks!

Here is some good reading to modding the MB XL: http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/99373/masterbuild-xl-mods-post-your-mods-here

Welcome Bad 324!

Use the search function, and you will find tons of information about thermometers.  Lots of friendly helpful folks from around the world.

 Just my $0.02.

I have the Maverick ET732 and I like it, but really wish that it was made in America.  That being said, It certainly works well, and that is the reason I originally purchased it so I cannot gripe.

Amazen products has always treated me well and provides great customer service, and follow-up, and all my shipments have arrived on time!.     Todd is a fine business man doing quality work!!!

Good luck with whatever you purchase, and enjoy!!!

to SMF - glad to have you here. As mentioned before, Todd is a great guy to do business with and you will be happy with any of the products he sells.

Thanks for the welcomes and links! I think I will definitely be going with the Maverick and found some good info on some starter mods for the MB XL

I am doing a house warming/Labor Day cookout for some family and friends and likely will be using both smokers and being only the 2nd time using the MB XL I'm trying to get a good feel for it

Do you happen to have any experience in regards to his shipping time? I like to support forum sponsors however I would like to have it by this weekend in order to get a feel for it before my party

I know he tries to ship as fast as he can. I bet if you call him right now he will get it out on Priority Mail and you should have it in 2 days which should be in time for this weekend!

Here's some testimonials to his customer service and shipping:

Like Dave said - Todd is very responsive and ships the same day he gets an order

hey BAD324,

I'm new to the forum also. Where in Ohio you from? I'm in Fairborn.
Cleveland!

Spoke to Todd a few minutes ago via email and I placed my order expecting it to arrive by this weekend as he said it shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
