Roller, you know that you're going to make me make a run.....I can't fine chicken for .99 cents a pound right now.....You are killing me if you are talking butts !!!!

Yep they were on sale twice for .99lb BUTTS...I have 160lbs in my freezer. They may not do it again for a year but you never know...I will let you know if they go on sale again..

This week one local store has butts for $1.19 a lb. but not a big fan of there meat quality and where I usually go there $1.49 a lb.  I can't remember the last time I ever paid over $1.49 a lb. for pork butts but I buy hundreds of lbs from this place so I'm sure that helps. 60 lbs per case with 2 butts per vacuumed sealed pack. Only way to go.

The best price I'm seeing right now is $2.49...... The wait is slowly killing me, I'm out of everything!!! No bacon, No sausage, nothing!!!! I've been reduced to buying bacon and sausage last week.......I hold my head in shame!!! Even my kids are making fun of me!!!! My daughter that doesn’t really like my “Smoked stuff” (Her words, not mine) has said that she would like some chicken and dad’s smoked sausage gumbo last weekend….and I had to buy some Eckrich smoked sausage…..It’s about one of the only ones I can stomach……She said it was ok,  then she went on to make a big deal about  how it wasn’t as good as the sausage that daddy makes and that I could have made a small batch (2lbs) just for the gumbo…..I think she was just giving me a hard time because she knew that I didn’t have any sausage to put in it……That’s ok, her times coming, as soon as they put butts on sale, I’m going to have her in their helping me make sausage…..LOL …..ShoneyBoy

Wegmans up here has what they call consistent low pricing. They will freeze prices on products for a year. Pork butts was one of the items. They have been locked at $1.29 for almost a year now.

Things have gotten better here. One store has butts for $1.19/lb this week and another has picnics for $.99/lb. I bought some split breasts last week for $.99/lb so I have four 10# butts and a bunch of chicken in my freezer right now!

The best price around here is the "case" price at Sam's for $1.34. I was getting them on sale several times a year for $0.87 but not for the last six months. the only good sale has been whole chicken for $0.77. If anyone is interested, Scarbelly's  "Chicken, Mango, Jalapeno" sausage is great stuff!
