cut of this cookie that's about 2" thick and it's penetrating through. Maybe from bar oil?any ideas? Seen some bugs in some of the black parts

No, that isn't food grade. Good for a camp fire or a fireplace, but don't use it for food.

Only 1 guy commented here so I put it on my welding forum where theres is a wealth of knowledge and a guy that runs a saw mill said oak has tannin in the wood cells and when they come in contact with iron it crates these dark spots. Supposedly it's even safe to use but not sure I will. Thanks for looking
