As many know, last week Publix had them on sale for $7.99/lb. for roasts. I bought a 4 lber. I haven't pan seared a steak in awhile so I cut a 1½" steak to do that on the Blackstone...

Seasoned up with Kinder's Buttery Steakhouse...

I roasted some thick cut sweet potatoes drizzled with EVOO, a little garlic powder, and honey. Served with petite sweet peas. Time to eat...

I got my Blackstone this past August and for some reason, I bought a cover for it. That was a waste of money because I use it so much 😄. Anyway, I've always seared steaks using bacon grease, but tallow is fantastic and will be my go to from now on. if you've never seared a steak in tallow, give it a try, you won't be disappointed...

Looks awesome Charles

Looks great Charles, nice plate of food for sure.

On a tallow note, I normally do not use it often but have.
But we were at a nice family resturant down by our property a month ago that I heve been to before and their fish and chips were always very good, and gravy is to die for.

Well now they advertize when you walk in and on the menu, they use beef tallow to deep fry eveything.
I just have to say , it ruined the fish, too strong of a beef tallow flavour in the fish, I could stand it in the rires , but not the fish.
Don't get me wrong I ate it all :emoji_yum: , just not right flavour in the fish.

David

Great steak, Charles
We use bacon grease for everything but beef.
Picked up a jar of tallow for the next time we do beef steak.
Thanks John. I was given a bunch of beef fat and rendered it myself, but I'm about out. My friend, who raises beef, has promised me some more...

Thanks David!! Yeah, I don't think beef tallow would be good for fish. I only use it for pan frying beef, pork, and sometimes chicken. Don't have enough of it to deep fry, but fries are good fried in it...

Great looking plate!
Charles, What do you think of the Kinders Buttery Steakhouse Rub? Does it really have butter flavor or more like fake buttery flavor used on Movie Popcorn? I have looked at it in the store a few times and never pulled the trigger.

I like the Kinder's, but it is more of the fake butter taste as is with most dry rubs with butter flavor...

Strips look great Charles and i keep some tallow but rarely use it. Looks like that needs to change!

Thanks Keith, I appreciate your compliment. I have been fortunate enough to have a supply of beef fat to render my own tallow. It is phenomenal to fry cube steak in and then make gravy. I always use unsalted beef broth for the gravy...
