SaveMart supermarkets has whole, cleaned, wild salmon on sale for $1.99 on fri, sat, sun

they call them Keta salmon

I din't buy enough last year. time for me to make up for that!

update...

they are headless and frozen/defrosted but as of right now, they are still frozen.  not the same as last year, which were fresh.

That is a very good price for a healthy source of protein...  I have eaten a lot of Keta smoked and canned....  Some Alaskan's deride the fish as "dog food" but it is very good....   better than pen raised, in my humble opinion...   Get it while it is cheap......    Dave

these aren't cohos but they are a great way to practice my brining/smoking.

 from what I saw, they look more like silver/cohos than "dogs".  Without the head, it's some what hard to tell.  I'll part them out.  the belly meat for tuna salad, the tail end will be for baking when the weatheris too rainy or too hot.  The prime pieces are for the smoker.

Now, it's time to get the MB analog flowing right.  Last few times, the amzn pellets flashed through the maze in 45 min.  nothing left but black, charred pellets.  so, off to work I go!

I miss the wash coast were kings/silvers were $10 each form the local tribe.
