If you saw my intro you know I just retired a 15 year old gas grill and a nearly as old electric smoker. Both died this winter in service to my belly and now reside in the city dump. Rest in peace you magnificent chunks of cheap rusty metal. This created a serious dilema as I am the opposite of congress; I hate spending money. Plus given the choice between shopping and having my toenails pulled off, I would have to take a few minutes to consider the pros and cons of each. Just the same I also need to fill that aforementioned belly and I am certainly not going to pay someone to make BBQ for me. I am so cheap I would do my own dental work if I had a better vice grips and knew someone who sold that green herb they are so fond of in Colorado. After spending couple weeks researching options online and complaining a lot, the mother of my children and holder of the purse decided to take matters into her own hands. She called me while I was at work the other day and said "Have I got a deal for you!". A smaller local box store had 2019 Weber grills on clearance. Long story short I gave it a thumbs up and she bought a copper colored Weber Genesis II SE-410 for $599 assembled and tested. Even came with a coupon for a free propane refill. The SE stands for special edition, but it's basically an S-410 inside the lid. The sucky news is that they did not have a copper model assembled and that woman who tells me what to do did not like the smoke or crimson version that they did have ready to go. But sometime next week that big copper gasser will be sitting on my patio with a foil packet full of apple wood puffing away inside of it.
