Non Buckeye fans, tell me

Why does it seem that most people outside of the Buckeye nation and most people in the sports media HATE the Buckeyes and give them no respect? I understand the Big 10 is not as good as years past but when teams like USC are getting beat by Stanford, LSU getting beat by KY, Florida losing 3 games. And for B.C., some people are saying they should be ahead of the Buckeyes, WHAT?? Why do people want to see the Buckeye loose so bad?

twistertail, I'm from So.Cal. and all my wife's family are USC fans. I must say that over here the only thing I hear is Beat the Bruins (UCLA). No mention of the Buckeye games. So maybe the're not concermed about the Buckeyes losing, at least not around these parts.

Its because the people how are not fans of the team at #1 are upset they can't pick a winning team. OSU did loose alot of players from last year, i am some what amazed they are as good as they are this year,as many others may be. and as you stated the Big 10 not your prime conference this year, although you may wish you had waited to start this thread till after you play Michigan.

As bad as Michigan is playing this year it will still be a very tough game for the Bucks to go up there and come out with a win. Heck they may be going up there with a loss already. I was expecting 2 or 3 losses this season after all the players they lost last year but the defense is awsome and the offense is getting better and better every game.

Hmmm I bet it all hinges on ONE game. Any guesses which? Heh. OTOH, he just MAY step down. That's an intangible... and if he does, no one will know the difference. Just the way it works there.

Personally, I'd like to see some new blood. NOT in the current system, even.

I had heard that earlier this year he said that he was done after this year but wanted to work in the athletics department for the university? Of course after Ohio State beats them AGAIN he may want to get out of town all together!

Yep Woody had a temper. That was long before my time but I have read a lot about him, I still have not decided how much I would have liked him. There were lots of good things about him but he lost his head a lot too.

I certainly don't hate Ohio State, but it irks me that the Big 12 has 3 top 10 teams practically stacked on top of eachother and no one can talk about any team except Ohio State, BC and LSU. But I suppose that such a thing figures since the BCS was meant to glorify and uplift the teams from the ACC, SEC and Big 10.

But that is a gripe about the BCS not any particular conference. Each conference has their power teams. I do think it will be hilarious though if the national title comes down to Arizona State and Hawaii!

From what I have heard on sports sites and shows, they arent wanting OSU to lose, they just dont believe they are the best team in the country. OSU coaches readily admit that this is a rebuilding year for the Buckeyes, thus the schedule is much softer than normal. With their schedule there is not way they should be #1 in the country. Michigan is without a doubt OSU's toughest game this year, and they arent exactly having a stellar year. I mean no disrespect to either team, just dont feel OSU is a top 5 team. This is strictly my opinion. And that being said I will leave my conference and team outta this.

The BCS does suck, I wish they would go to a play off system but I dont think that will ever happen because of the money the Bowl games get.

If Ohio State should not be #1 who should it be? I know their schedule is weak but that is not because its a rebuilding year, they set the schedule years in advance. LSU got beat by KY who is by no means a powerhouse team, they got beat by Florida, S Carolina and Miss. State. Cant put USC up there. Kansas is playing a schedule that is far easier than Ohio State. the only team BC has played is Virgina Tech and the needed a miracle to win that game. Arizona state would have a good argument and should really be #2.

When I look at the top 5 teams, I think that Oklahoma is the best if they all had to go head to head. Now my personal bias says that Kansas is ranked in the top 5 or 10 in every major category that you want a good football team to have. But I question our ability when it comes to the really big game. Our greatest test will be when Missouri comes to Lawrence. They are currently ranked right behind us and are a good team.
