Hey,

My name is Hunter. I'm from Charleston, SC. I just got my first smoker for Christmas today, now I'm looking for advise and help. I plan on using it a lot and my wife and kids are very excited for the upcoming meals. Any help or advice for a newbie would be most appreciated.

Hunter, welcome to SMF!  There is a lot of experience here for you to access.  Let us know what type of smoker you have so folks with something similar can give you some time-tested direction.

Have fun!

Welcome from the upstate, Hunter. This is a great site that I'm sure you will enjoy. There are lots of really good folks here who are always eager to share their ideas and tips. All you have to do is ask and keep reading. As Ray asked, Please post the make and model of your smoker and you will find some folks who may have the same or similar smoker and have some personal ideas to share.

Good luck and good smokin', Joe

Welcome Hunter, from the land of Lincoln.  Pick your favorite food, do a little search on the forum hear for some advice and prior experience, and dive in!

Don't be afraid to ask questions.  Know not every cook will be perfect.  And keep a log so you can recall what work and what didn't

Enjoy

I have a CharGriller wood smoker. It is the two in one grill that is sold at Lowes with the firebox attachment which turns the charcoal side into a smoker.
