I am a newbie from North Carolina who has quickly become addicted to smoking all types of meats. I have a cheapy Char Broil electric smoker, don't laugh, that my kids bought it for me for Christmas. Works great for boston butt and chicken wings. I know its not the best, but my kids were so excited because they saw me looking at one. Of course the one I was looking at wasn't this type. I'll be asking questions and would like to say thank you in advance for your answers. I have Jeffs book and look forward to next monday when I can smoke something else.

Have a wonderful smoke filled day.

Hello Tadams32, nothing wrong with any type smoker you get as gift. Glad to see you joined, lots of good stuff  and helpful members on here.

Welcome aboard.  Don't sweat the smoker type.  Any of them can make darn good eats.  Some maybe do that a bit easier and with less tending than others but they can all cook just fine.

What part of NC are you from?  When we finally get fed up with the snow and taxes we'll sell the farm and most likey wind up in NC ourselves.
