Newbie to smoking

Hi my name is Keith. I'm from the Lubbock, TX area. I received a charbroil offset smoker for father's day. I know virtually nothing about smoking meats, veges. I have cooked on a gas grill for a couple of decades. I love cooking out and have some favorite recipes. I'm definitely open to suggestions and tips.

I'm an IT tech by profession with a certificate in digital forensics. So this is a new endeavor for me.
