Newbie Smoker in Alabama...hi!

Was at HD a couple of weeks back and picked up a Masterbuilt bullet smoker on sale for $19, so here I am. Picked up a thermometer today (Maverick single probe...it's all they had and will have to do for now)...tomorrow, we'll "do the mods" and smoke my 13lb butt (that just sounds SO wrong! :))

I'm kinda nervous about the possibility I'll mess up a perfectly good piece of meat, but my love of pulled pork demands I give it a try.

Welcome to the forum!
That is an awfully large butt. If it's in cryovac, it's probably 2 butts.
You will do fine, it's pretty hard to mess up a butt.
Just cook it until around 205 IT, or until probe tender.
The bone should pull out clean.

OK, I have to make a correction...the PRICE was $13, NOT the weight...actual weight is 7.5lbs.

Looks like my butt ain't so big after all! :)

Alas, my butt remains frozen...just got the smoker assembled today (along with the only mod I was able to do because of the slant of the legs on this model...drill holes in the charcoal pan).
