Newbie Charcoal box/Firebox

OK so I have all needed calculations to build a RF. So my firebox dimensions come to 14x15x14. I'm going to be using a charcoal basket, so my question is.... should the firebox match the overall dimensions or should the basket match the dimensions and build the firebox around the basket? Thanks for any much needed info!
