.Usa Japan! Yep, its a place...
Yup . That started way back when I was an apprentice Carpenter . Made in Usa . I found out when I showed up on a job with a 2' level stamped made in Usa . Journeyman smacked it up against a column twice and threw it off the sixth floor . Lol .
I was shocked when I got the notice of a price increase for a Dewalt planer . Coming out of China . Never gave that any thought . Same with the Hex clad .
I'm betting Weber and the rest have a quality control presence in the countries they do business with .
Part of posting the vent stampings was to your point of " what it means " .
Made in America ? South America , Central , North ,,, ?
There's good info on the trade commision website for people that want to be informed on the language of what means what .

Yep, most American companies have reps in China keeping an eye on stuff. By the same token, all companies contracting China are essentially required to give up all intellectual rights so the Chinese can duplicate and make their own version of everything.

It's why I can easily have two backup spares of the carb for my generator (and spares of stuff for most all of my small engines). So called "OEM" parts are three times as much money...and guess where they are made? The markups are insulting and they are counting on the consumers not realizing those are not U.S. made just because it says "OEM". The original part was probably not made in the U.S.! 😬

I would love to buy U.S. made stuff, and in some cases can, but we dont make much here anymore. Heck I just heard on a news program that American manufacturing is about maxed now, but thats because most of the factories closed!:emoji_disappointed:

I did buy a snow shovel from Lowe's over the winter that proudly stated 100% made in America though. I was stunned.
