Milltown WI,
Well Covid has made me even crazy
So here’s my plan: I’m going to build a catering/ competition trailer that I may someday do concessions out of. This is not my first build and I have access to my friends welding shop. I have been gathering parts over the last few years but I’m going to start the smokers this week. So if I could have someone to check my numbers I would really appreciate that.
My tanks are an old air tank 34x70 round ends and a former FFA project that is a rolled 34 x60 tank they are both 1/4 inch steel so if I cut one rounded end off they would be essential the same size I used 62 inches for length.
CC. 33.5x33.5x.7854x63= 54647.72 inch cubed. 237.57 gallons
FB- CC ,under RF plate and end of RF plate
54647.27 x.004 = 218.59 inches squared
FB
54647.27 x .33 = 18033.60 inches squared
Air inlet
54647.27 x .001. = 54.65
20% top and 80% bottom
ESV
54647.27. X .022 =1202.23
.7954 x8x8 =50.26
1202.23 / 50.26 =23.93 inches I plan to run this through the roof so they will be much longer.
The E D opening for the FB-CC is 10.125 and 30.769 in long.

I have 3/8 inch plate for the fire box probably will use 1/4 for the revers flow plate..
This thing will be big hit is going on a tandem axels frame was a camper before it burned but still in good shape,
Thank you for taking a look I will add pictures as we go

For the chimney, ~36" above the CC seems to be a good balance for draft., Longer may cause you some minor problems....

Build update
We have busy this week trying to finish the first smoker so here are a few pic of the build and the semi finished still needs some tweaking and paint.
Cooking today and tomorrow for my friend Marks son’s grad party tomorrow today case of pork butts and a case of chicken tomorrow, baked beans and smoked mac and cheese . My wife figured I should do some meat for home today so I have 2 legs of lamb and a couple of chuckies on as well
The smoker is working great I followed the design calculator on here and thanks to Dave O for the suggestion to go 36 inches above the CC. The other one will be built this fall and winter and mounted on the trailer.
Thank you for looking

Any updates on your progress? Looks good, firebox definitely looks big enough. Biggest complaint from offset owners is the wanted a bigger fire box. second is the smoke stack diameter is too small. These projects are fun to watch and even better to actually accomplish im sure.

Thank you spud the great and smokin peach
I’m very happy so far I have done 2 cooks so far temps are with in 10 degrees front to back pulled pork and chicken turned out great. The FB is 30x30x21.5 made out of 3/8 steel it is a full 8” stack . The 21.5 height of the FB is because that was what I had for plate to get minimum waste.
the rest of the project is on hold for a while till my friend gets done with his house flipping project.
