I just bought a Masterbuilt electric smoker. I smoked some chicken breasts and had them for dinner last night and it was delicious.

However when I microwaved the leftovers, the chicken breast was really dry and honestly I couldn't even finish it.

My question is, what is the best way to reheat smoked chicken? Also, if there's just any general advice about anything with smoking meats with an electric smoker I'd be very appreciative!

Thanks in advance!

What I usually do is pull it all apart when I go to refrigerate it. Then when I reheat, I throw it in a pan with a touch of chicken broth or water works too. If you have a lid, put that on as well as it steams it and keeps it moist. Doesn't take long at all and stays moist.

Chicken breast is a very touchy meat. My guess is you probably overcooked them in the smoker so they were good fresh from the smoke but there wasn't enough moisture left in them to reheat. Microwaves are hard in meat when reheating to start with. Do you know what I.T. you pulled them from the smoker at?

The first toy you purchase, after getting a smoker, is a digital thermometer. You need to know your smoker temp and meat temp, aka IT Internal Temp. For Chix Breast they will be cooked, juicy and safe at an IT of 150°f held there for 3 minute. No pink just hot and juicy. Now any leftover can be reheated to 155-160° without getting dry...JJ

If you have a vacuum sealer I would seal it up and toss into a pot of simmering water till it's heated.

I agree with Chef Jimmyj...pull that chicken (or turkey) the second it hits temp and you will have better luck with juicy reheats.
