New to smoking and mods

I picked up a used grillpro 33030 offset smoker the other day. This is my first smoker so bear with me.
I researched some mods to do and have done some mods already. I have only done some dry runs so far but am excited to smoke something! Haha
Here are some pics off what I bought and the mods to it. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I just checked the thermometer with an oven thermometer set on the rack and it reads the same as the original one. Can I assume that they both aren't wrong?
