Hey gang,

My name is Steve Dallas , I am from Florida but have been living in Davao City Philippines for almost 8 years now. I wanted to buy a smoker but they are hard to find and very expensive so I built one out of a 55 gallon drum; it leaks a tad around the lid but I have no problem controlling the temp and it heats to 285 if I want it to.

When I was a commercial fisherman in Destin Florida, I used to smoke hundreds of pounds of fish a year and also a lot of deer hind quarters & wood ducks so I am not new to smoking....but there is ALWAYS plenty to be learned

 , I sure ain't a know it all, lol.

I am thinking about trying to export to the states this compressed coconut charcoal , it burns very hot and very long, and has very little ash. This stuff is awesome!

I am smoking in new frontiers here so I think I am going to have a lot of fun....just gotta make sure I don't get fat !

Well, I guess that's about it right now, cya'll around

Hello Steve and welcome from East Texas. This is a great site, lots of information and great people that are willing to throw in their two cents worth on about anything.

Welcome aboard Steve!  Coconut charcoal?  That sounds intriguing.  Anyway, this is the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Looking forward to your input here, and just ask when you need anything...someone here will surely have the answer.
