Just wanted to say hello, and for Christmas today I got a CAbela's Propane 30'' vertical smoker. Is that a good smoker to start with?  So excited either way. I have been stuck on this site/forum for about 4 hours now. I cant wait to join all the fuss and joys I hear about smokers. Im sure everyone will be seeing me alot with questions. Any welcome tips are welcome. Im really just trying to decide what to smoke first :)

Merry Christmas everyone!

First off, Welcome to the SMF family !!!

If it was me i'd do a little reading and make a pork butt my first smoke . Long smoke but easy and hard to screw up. Check out some of the rubs and southh fla qers finishing sauce in the wiki section and have at it. someone is usually around to answer any questions you may have so ask away.

First off Welcome Mike to SMF. You'll like it here for there are alot of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking. Now there are alot of proven recipes for some amazing things here too. So if you need sign up for the E-Course it's free and it will give you the basics of smoking and some good methods to use also. So the next big thing for you to do is go out and get you something to smoke and if you happen to have any questions just post it here and we will be happy to answer them for you.

Welcome to SMF. Take the E-course & for your first smoke I would suggest spare ribs. Use the 3-2-1 method & your won't be disappointed. Just keep your smoker temp around 225 and you will have fall off the bone ribs. Good luck & don't forget to post Q-view.
