Hello everyone, My wife and I recently acquired a Traeger texas style pellet grill.

In August we borrowed a friends grill to make dinner for the guests at our wedding. Wedding and dinner went off without a hitch, we had many compliments on the meat. Well a couple of days later as I was returning the grill, I rounded a corner and watched it roll right off the side of my trailer and bounce down the road. Of course I was quite disgusted at myself for ruining our friends grill.

My wife and I spent the rest of our Sunday trying to find a replacement, after a couple of hours and a 2 hour round trip we arrived at our friends door with a brand new grill.

When we got home we tried to figure out what to do with our 1000 dollar pile of scrap metal. I decided it wasn't in that bad of shape, straightened the legs and hopper lid, re attached the lid and smoke cap, patched the damaged wires and fired it up... It worked.... The damn thing worked and we've been hooked ever since.

So now we want to learn everything about smoking. I would classify us as newbies with a little success, and now we want to learn what the big boys know.

Thanks in advance and happy to have found this forum

S2K9K, I had added my location last night. We live in a rural area and our internet connection is not the greatest. Coupled with that my post last night was done on a small tablet in bed. Fixed the issue.

Cheers

That is quite the story about rolling the Traeger... glad everything worked out for all in the long run. Have a pellet smoker myself, great cooks off them!
