Hello everyone I’m in the market for a new pellet smoker and have been eyeing the pitboss pro 1150 that Lowe’s has for $650 and I’m looking for pros and cons or something else in the price range. TIA
Excellent post.Welcome Tvince, I have a couple of questions for you that you should consider before spending any amount of money on any type of grill/smoker.
You have quite a few options to choose from in that price range. As for the PitBoss Pro 1150, have you done any research on that pellet smoker yet? I’ve read that PitBoss is having some issues with the PID Controller on that grill. They do come with a 5 year warranty, which is a great thing to have when you need it though. Answer those questions so that we can help you make the right choice. It’s never fun spending X amount of dollars, only to be disappointed later. .02
- Have you ever had bbq cook off of a Pellet Grill before and If yes, how did you like it?
- What are the most important things to you when you bbq?
- Do you prefer a light smoke flavor profile or do you want/desire a traditional smoke flavor profile when you bbq?
- What is your price range/limit, $650.00? Could you go a little higher or is $650.00 about your limit?

100% agree! not all options are important to everyone. I did an extensive search and comparison of options, size, and reviews on a wide budget range to ensure I was heading in the direction of "buy once cry once". the budget went up a little, but well worth it as I have had years of use without issue and great cooks.I would add develop a list of priorities and bounce them against different manufacturers but try to limit those to well known brands. A bit more stretching of the budget might be well worth the effort.
