Hello all,new guy here. I have been lurking a couple weeks trying to learn of few things.Been doing jerky in the oven for a couple months now.So I figured it was time for the next step. Well the UPS dropped it off right after I came home from work. The wife got me a Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse!! from Cabelas. I already have it together and am seasoning it as I type this. I also prepared 4 lbs of jerky to smoke tomorrow.Man I cant wait! I will have to stop and pick up some hickery wood chips before I come home tomorrow.

I got my Masterbuilt smoker just before Thanksgiving and have had in use every weekend since, the second thing I put in was a load of venison jerkey, I can't belive I waited this long to get one. I have been making jerkey fo 10 years but this was the best so far. I think you will be very pleased with your purchase.. good luck

First off Welcome Woody to SMF.  You'll like it here for there are alot of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking. Now there are alot of proven recipes for some amazing things here too. So if you need sign up for the E-Course it's free and it will give you the basics of smoking and some good methods to use also. So the next big thing for you to do is go out and get you something to smoke and if you happen to have any questions just post it here and we will be happy to answer them for you.

Welcome To Your New Addiction

Welcome Woody, I know you are gonna love that new smoker. One thing I will caution you about is that smoking is very addictive, you are gonna want to smoke everything, I was thinking about smoking some Cheerios the other day, but I decided not to when my wife suggested that I don't. Mind you it was just a suggestion, cause I am the boss.

Thanks for the welcome! I will look into the E class. I seasond it last night per the instructions.I picked up some hicory chips today.Tonight I will be smoking some beef jerky. I'll let you know how it comes out.Maybe pics if I can.Thank again.

Nice looking jerky. The MES has a hot spot in the right rear corner. There are a couple of different fixes. Check out the section on electric smokers. Man that sucker looks clean inside. You gotta get some "mojo" on those walls!
