I just got an electric 40" smoker for Christmas. I'm super excited but really don't know where to start. I put it together yesterday and plan to season it tomorrow. I'd like to do a couple easy things for new year's Eve. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!  Wings and ribs are pretty easy for a party smoke.  Tasty too!

Good to have you with us.

Chicken is cheap and easy but if you have time I'd start with a pork butt. They are cheap, they feed a lot of people, and as long as you have a thermometer they are impossible to mess up.

Good luck!

I concur with Hillbilly. Go with the pork butt, especially if you are using an electric smoker. There's info all over this forum on how to do it, but if you have specific questions, let me know.

Im from Carrollton, it's about half way between Louisville and Cincinatti. Thanks for the welcome!

Hope you came up with something tasty for NYE. I agree with others that chicken and pork butts are both usually relatively inexpensive. I would recommend the pork butt as I do them often and know how easy they really are.

Good luck with your new smoker, welcome to your new addiction, and remember to enjoy with friends your success.

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum from a cloudy and windy day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of        great people with tons of information on just about everything.
