Hi y'all,

I'm a new member (obviously), but not necessarily new to bbq. I have smoked on spare ribs, chicken, and burgers on charcoal grill and a heavily modified cheap Brinkman (trust me, couldn't be used as manufactured). I've referred to this forum for information many times over the years, but now that I have a legitimate smoker, I feel that it is high time that I joined the forum. My father-in-law gave me one of the smokers that he builds and sells. I have to say, I will probably never buy another smoker. Here are some pictures.

Just so you see what I'm dealing with here. Yes I did include some pictures of me touching the firebox and cooking chamber while it was holding around 225F. Cool go the touch on every surface except the firebox, which was warm. When I finished cooking, I opened up the vents to hasten the burning of the charcoal. When it was 400F I still could touch all surfaces, including the firebox. I guess I'm just a little excited about my new smoker.

So here are some pictures of my first run on this puppy.
I had put a mango-peach glaze on the ribs and Boston butt, however I had overestimated my initial load of charcoal. After four hours the temperature got away from me and burnt the glaze on the butt before I was able to knock it down. Next time I will start with a lot less charcoal. Live and learn. Still tastes good and pulled very easy.

Silly question, but where would I post a request for wood in my local area? I'm a bit of an social media hermit and this is the only forum I've ever joined. I just don't want to violate some rule or annoy anyone. Also my father-in-law builds smokers and I wanted to do a little advertising for him. Is there a place for that? They are built per order so it's not like he has one on hand to sell, he just has a website showing how they are built and how to contact him for it. Thanks. By the way, I also was not sure where I should have posted this. I was looking a "contact a moderator" thing. I probably just missed it though, as I said, I'm not internet savvy. Thanks.
