Hi everyone I am a new member. I am from central missouri and am just starting to enter bbq competions. Just finished building my first smoker.
Can anyone tell me about tuning plates and where they should go?

Hi Moose... welcome to SMF. As for your question, the tuning plates help to distribute the heat more evenly in the smoke chamber from the firebox. Instead of having a really hot spot where the heat pours into the smoke chamber the plates catch the heat, absorb it, and pass it along to the next area or plate if needed.

There are many styles and posts on the subject if you need more help just ask. Also can you tell us what smoker you have? It will help us find the right choices for you.

Keep Smokin
