My name is Jon and I live in eleva Wi. I am new to smoking and am in the process of making my own smoker. Looking for ideas for a heat source. I tried using a hot plate and it doesn't get hot enough.
Look forward to some suggestions.

Welcome to the forum. What about using the burner from a turkey fryer? I would think that would give you the heat needed. Then you could have a pan on top for chips or chunks for smoke.
