I'm a newbie to smoking meat.  I'm taking baby steps... I just bought my first smoker, a Masterbuilt 30" electric, with plans to build my own when I get a little experience under my belt.  I feel fortunate that my father-in-law is awesome with a smoker  and is mentoring me.

My "maiden voyage" with my lil' smoker went great.  I smoked 2 racks of baby back ribs and they turned out pretty darn good (if I must say so myself).  They were much better than anything I've bought at any BBQ joint around here.

The next weekend I smoked a 7.5# Boston Butt.  It ,too, was very tasty (and pretty), but not quite as good as my father-in-laws.  I was still pretty proud for my second time smoking anything.

I'm planning on trying a prime rib and some veggies for Mothers Day.  I'm hoping to continue what has started to be some outstanding eats.

Welcome BD... from here on out it'll be very hard for you to find a 'good' BBQ place now that you've smoked your own. Looks like a great start.
