Hello from North Jersey (west of the 287 beltway). Retired. I just picked up a MES40 w/slow smoke attachment. As I write this I'm in the middle of cold smoking salmon using a combo of alder/apple.

Thanks to all for your welcomes!Hello from North Jersey (west of the 287 beltway). Retired. I just picked up a MES40 w/slow smoke attachment. As I write this I'm in the middle of cold smoking salmon using a combo of alder/apple.
It was 38f here today (and windy). I was able to keep smoke chamber in the 50s. I turned the slow smoke on to get the pellets smoldering and then shut the unit off and it keep smoldering. Remember it was windy here today. I think that may have helped keep the smolder going. I refilled the slow smoke after 4 hrs and again after 8 hrs. (12 hr total smoke) I never let it completely burn all the pellets so I was able to keep it going. I did take a long spike and occasionally break up the pellets as they tend to get sticky as they smolder.Welcome from California. Nice looking salmon.
I bought the same attachment for an MES30 I picked up on Craigslist. I haven't hooked it up yet. What is the lowest temperature you were able to get it to?

Hi WELCOME TO THE GROUP!Hello from North Jersey (west of the 287 beltway). Retired. I just picked up a MES40 w/slow smoke attachment. As I write this I'm in the middle of cold smoking salmon using a combo of alder/apple.
I'm a little further north. Just west of Morristown. When I hear Clinton, the first thing that comes to mind is Round Valley Reservoir (lake trout) :)Hi WELCOME TO THE GROUP!
Lived all over the state.
My Dad s tavern was in Washington, above Clinton.
Are you near that ?
I'm between Morristown to the east and Washington to the west. When I hear Clinton, the first thing that comes to mind is Round Valley Reservoir (read me lake trout) :)
