Hi all,
As suggested by Jeff, I wanted to introduce myself and give some information about who I am. As the "Title" indicated, I live in central Illinois, am 65 years of age, own a Masterbuilt smoker that I have had for about three years (it is currently broken, which I have read is a common problem with the Masterbuilt smokers), and have been smoking for three years as the Masterbuilt is my first smoker. I have been a subscriber to the "Smoking Meat Newsletter" for about two years and have made use of the recipes provided.
As a fairly new smoker I anticipate learning smoking to a greater degree here in the forum and hope to become a better smoker. I am a accomplished cook having managed several restaurants/hotels in my working life (I'm now retired). I retired from the U.S.Navy as a submariner "Doc". After retirement I also have preached for 18 years, was a power plant supervisor, and volunteered as a Paramedic in our small town area.
That should give everyone a good idea of whom I am and I hope to enjoy everyone's tutelage.
