Hey guys -
This has been a great site to learn from...so by all means, please throw out your 2cents as your read or see things I'm doing and have suggestions!!
I won't lie...I've learned alot and got motivated by BBQ Eng here - granted, my build will be a fraction of his awesomeness...but I'm excited!
After getting a good Spring - well, current out of my 55gal drum smoker, I decided to step up to something alittle bigger, alittle "nicer", etc....
I'm building a double walled / insulated smoker with offset firebox (fire box will run along the rear of the smoker, not side).
I'm just learning welding, so don't look too close at the welds ;) They seem strong, just not to pretty...but I'm confident they'll keep getting better.
Plan is for a 58"x23" (ID) smoke chamber with 30"x20" (ID) firebox. Cooking side will have 1" insulation and the firebox will have 2".
2 - 5" stacks 19" long.
It's gonna basically be a big rectangle with two doors on the front that open.
This is just the beginnings of the stand/cart. I need to get the wheels mounted on it...lots of work to come - hope it's worth it!
Any tips, gotcha's, etc...send 'em along! Need to get that up on wheels...this things gonna be heavy!!
