Hi, my name is Matt.  I have a problem.  I like barbequing too much!  I have had a big green egg for about 3 years but have finally decided it is time for a traditional smoker.  I like the egg for bbq, but am looking for a change.  I found this forum searching for info on building my own smoker.  You can see my thread in the referse flow section.  I wanted a smoker that was built of quality and everything in the budget I wanted to spend seemed cheap so I figured I would build one.  I am in the ski industry so I am about to have a TON of free time so this is this years project for my off time.  The smoker is coming along and I hope to have it ready for Colorado Rockies opening day (baseball) which is an annual tradition for me.

As you can see from my profile pic, I really like cars.  Specifically old VW buses.  I have owned 50+ of them but have held on to only one, the one in my pic.  It is a 63 single cab, all original with great "patina."  It has hauled over 1.5 tons of dirt at one point (not easy and I will never do it again).

Anyway, thanks everyone for the help so far.  Great forum here.

Good morning and welcome to the forum, from a cloudy and rainy day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Welcome to the board! Man if you build a smoker that drops into the bed of that VW, that would be killer cool.

Especially if you drop a Porsche 993 drivetrain into it.
