Hello,

My name is Nick an I am new to the forum as well as Smokers..I am a married father of three who resides in east central/East Ohio .I received a cheaper charcoal grill with the offset side box for smoking(between 100 and 200$)..I am hoping this works out for me for the time being..

Welcome to the forum Nick!  Offset smokers can work great. I would suggest at least one mod. Buy/build/make a charcoal basket for the burn chamber. I have one in my SFB and use lump charcoal with wood chips mixed in. I can hold a fairly consistent temp for about 5 hours with great TBS no problems. Looking forward to your Q-view!

Hello Nick and welcome to the group!  You'll find that this is a great place to share ideas on smoking, grilling, etc.  There are plenty of folks here who genuinely enjoy helping one another.  Looking forward to your input, and just ask when you need anything...someone here will surely have the answer.

Hello and welcome from East Texas. This is a great site, lots of information and great people that are willing to throw in their two cents worth on about anything.
