Hi,

Just stumbled across the site while looking up some ideas to try for smoking a rump roast which is going in the smoker now. Long time grilling but new to the smoking world and have been wanting to get into it for years. Wre have lived all across the country and we trend toward preference for the Midwest and Texas style BBQ. My wife surprised me with a OK Joe offset with charcoal and propane that came on a crate ready for assembly.  I know not the best, it leaks plenty at the doors, but pretty heavy gauge and suspect we will get many years out if it. Picked up a truck load of hickory and oak and we have been putting out some great ribs and chicken, and appreciated the gift. Learning the tricks to maintain the temps. Today saw a rump roast at the store so decided to give it a shot. I injected with some marinade, gave it a rubdown and now just holding the heat to around 250. We like it rare to medium rare range so will probably pull it around 140 IT. Appreciate all the various posts shared for us lurkers looking for pointers!

Thanks!

Marty J
