New guy from IL that's interested in pellet grills

Hello all. I have been looking for a week or so for a good bbq forum and after being refused by another popular forum (they think my email is spam?????) I found this place and enjoy the material I have found so far.

I am have always been a quick gas grill guy but recently stole my dads traeger and I'm totally hooked. I did my first pork butts then whole loins wrapped in bacon then ribs and turkey..... They all turned out great.

So now in ready to buy myself a pellet grill. I do however want something bigger than his traeger JR. as well as something of better quality.

I'm currently leaning towards the green mountain daniel Boone with the wifi module.

Any help is greatly appreciated and I hope to learn how to cook some rockstar food from the rest of you all.

Welcome from SC, Caleb. Sounds like you've gotten you feet wet already. I'm sure you will enjoy this site and all of the folks who are always ready to share their ideas and tips. I've been toying with the idea of getting one myself. After lots of reading, looking at them in person and watching reviews, I've got to give it to GMG. The price is better, I've found very few complaints about customer service, they seem to hold rock steady temps and are built well.
I'm sold on them, now I've just got to figure out how to pay for one!

What kind of budget are you working with? There are pellet cookers at just about every price range. there is a pellet cooker forum if you do a search and they have tests and reports on many different brands and also section where people post questions and talk about the good points and the issues that some have.

 I have a pellet cooker and while I like mine if I were buying again I would be looking at a different brand but I think they all have their little quirks along the way.

A few brands to check out before buying are, Yoder, Smokin Brothers, Sawtooth, Cookshack, Royall, Rec Tec, Blazin Grill Works, Louisiana .

Do some research before laying out the cash, you are fortunate enough to have had a taste of food off of one so you have an idea of what to expect.
