I have access to .140 thick pipe, which is about 10 gauge I believe, super cheap. I'm looking at build a 20" x 40" cooking chamber patio unit. My question is this thin of metal even possible to use to build a decent smoker. I'm in Texas so I'm not dealing with cold Temps very often. I've read that 1/4 is minimum but this will be a upgrade over my walmart special offset that leaks like crazy and is made with 18 gauge.

Great. Was just wondering if it would hold up. I've had my walmart one for a few years. I guess the new one will last much longer. I'm also gonna take much better care of it, it already has a spot to park in my garage.
