Hi all new to the forum but not to smoke! Im going to start a 4 barrel build and had a few questions from the pros!
I wanted to do ball valves where the arrows are pointing do you guys think they could hold up to the heat?
Welcome, i was a "lurker" before i joined and i am glad that i did! Some much help and information. Now on to your build which is intense!! Never seen such a build but my concern with it would be air flow and uneven heat, closest barrels will be hottest and further would be coolest... ball values I'd imagine there's some that can take the heat, now that's not super hot temperatures which smoking usually doesnt go over 300. I guess you can turn off barrels if not using them correct?
I agree with Dave, 8 inch valves are pricey. Also you're gonna have a horrible time with proper airflow. If you insist on having 4 separate barrels with the valve system I think you'd be better off with a different layout.
Kind of hard to do in text, and I'm at work so I can't upload a picture. But the way you have it, passing through a barrel is going to be nothing but problems. My layout, is still likely to have air flow issues, but will be a little more forgiving.
Try a butterfly type dampers in sheet metal ducting. They have round ones thet will be considerably less than ball valves and I think would be just as adjustable. Won't seal as well but could work. The guillotine type would also work and seal better.
