Hope everyone had a great day!   I've read post about people putting there smoker up for the winter.   Well, I can't really put mine up, so I put it to use.

A bit windy today.

Finally got the smoker up to temp.  Bricks were cold this morning

Submitted a sample pork butt for a wedding of 400 guest next Oct.

Looks good to me.  You can't get stuff this good from a bbq joint!

Merry Christmas to all my "Smoking" friends!

Thanks for the kind words.  Once I got it up to temp, it cooked like any other day.

Holy S H I T ! !

I am diggin' the pit.  I want to build a pit like that with the wood burning hearth sooooooo bad!  I have plans, just need to execute them.  I even modeled one up in SolidWorks and rendered it photo realistically.  I should post a pic of it.

Thanks guys. Sav,  75% of the brick are from our house when we remodeled in 2000.  They came from the chimney.  The house was built in 1907.   The other 25% a friend gave me.  They date back to the late 1800's.

Scooter in my signature is a link to my build.    Please do post your picture.  I'd love to see it.

Not a lot of info on the web about brick smokers.   I designed it in my head and worked out the bugs as I went.  Once I figured out how it wanted to work its been smoking flawlessly.   Can't beat a wood fired smoker.  Fact!

If you have any question about the build, just  ask on my  build  thread  so everyone can see it.  I'll help anyway I can.

Scoot, I also have a  blueprint how to build the fireplace.  Let me know if you need it, I'll give you the link or email it to you.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year!

Just a note:  As I read through this awesome site, I keep an eye on where people are from.   Savupoika, you are from Finland. Your  as far away  from the US I've seen.   It amazes me that a world can come together and make up an awesome site like this.  Modern marvels are amazing!

Scooter, here is the link to the site.  Its a PDF file.  When I was using it, sometimes it wouldn't pull up.  You may want to print it off once you get it.    If its outside you won't need the "fresh air vent" from the outside.  You also won't need the damper in the fireplace.  I put one in because I just happen to have one from a tear down we did.    If you have  a working knowledge of brick and block work, you won't have any problem.  The foundation is the most important.  I poured my footing 13in. thick with a double grid of 1/2in. rebar.  There's about 9 tons of weight sitting on mine.

If your looking to build a smoker similar to mine,  let me know and I can give you more detail.   If I were to do mine over, I'd make the oven part a couple inches bigger all the way around.  Its awesome as is, but it could stand to be a little wider.

Here is the link to my build here at SMF:   http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/126307/brick-smokers

I have tons more pictures then what are posted in the build.  I'd be more then glad to share them.   The metal fab work I can't help you with.  I told my brother what I wanted and he built it for me.

I'd  love to see a brick smoker topic here, but I guess there's  not enough interest.

PM me if you have any questions or problems.   I have all my research in bookmarks, so if you need to know where to get something, I've already found it at the best price I could  find.

I like your picture.   I would make it a bit taller though.

Let me know if I can help in anyway
