During my daily walk. I walk by this house with an extended polished smoke stack in the backyard. Turns out. The woman is a friend of another whose dog I know (I know the dogs names - not the owners), so I asked if I could take a look

Pizza oven one of the previous owners built. New owner never used it. Has no intention as its rusty and needs a tiny bit of repair (rust clean and repaint), but no interest.

Bottom door for wood. Second is held on by a screw (bottom hinge pins not sitting in their proper placement spots) with temp gauge and top appears to be a warming spot.

Thought maybe a BBQ on the left, but just a prep area

Kind of cool, but at what point would someone get bored with it? Local store sells a pizza kit for $10 Canadian. Local franchise in same plaza. $9.00 for a pizza in 15 minutes

I took a picture as I thought it was interesting. BBQ set up would have been more useful

One has to be really in to homemade wood fired pizza to build that. Much respect for such drive and energy! And apart from the house like that. Hope its not pouring rain!

I'm gearing up to start making pizzas at home again when the temps cool down. I try to avoid heating the oven in the Virginia summer. Reason is, yes, there is local pizza to be had for $10, but thats a cheese pizza...maybe pepperoni. The pizza builds I like are more like $30 for a large. I dont mind paying that though, but the problem is the chains seem to have all started skimping on the toppings, and their dough is no longer as remarkable as it used to be for some reason. So these days I feel ripped off by them.

I DID just discover the local Shell gas station up the road makes pizza. And I mean makes it...real pizza ovens, not the pre-made stuff with the little toy ovens some gas stations have. This place has had excellent fried chicken for years but I never thought to try their pizza after I saw their food sign change to "Villas". I grabbed a big ole slice yesterday, huge pan crust style deluxe for $3.50 and it was fantastic. Better than Dominos, Papa John's and Marco's, the three most notable chains nearby and better than Pizza hut we recently got (not nearby). Those may not be that hard to beat, but this is a gas station and truck stop with showers! Their large pan style deluxe is like $23 and 18" and the piece I had was loaded with meats and other toppings. AND is closer to us than the rest! I will definitely be back.

I still plan to play with pizzas at home this fall and winter though. Just for fun really and see how I do.

We have too many displaced Brooklynites that opened great pizza places around here, don't know why anyone would go to the chains here in lower NY?
