#4 really says BBQ to me. It was a toss up between that and #3, but the smoke in #3 looks a little too much like a flower. That's just my opinion. They all look good though.
It was a toss-up for me between 1 and 3. I didn't even notice the "custom..." line on 3 until I read Scarbelly's post and went back, so definitely make that larger.
IMHO put wispy smoke in the background on 1 for the whole width of the decal, separate western and smoker, and change customer to custom.
Depends...blacks, greens, purples, blues and such are terribly hard to light up at night with lights behind it, or even with lights shining on it. They just don't stand out very well. So, if you are making a sign for outside and want it lit, I'd have to go for #5. If not, I like #1 with the Custom change for Customer.
I dislike a fantastically cool & artistic logo/sign that I have to guess what the product is. IMO a sign/logo should be:
#1: extremely simple to read, fast to read. ie no fancy fonts, very few words or pictures.
#2: extremely simple to know what the company is/sells.
#3: last and least make it cool & artistic.
IMO its purpose is to communicate very quickly with your customers, its not for you. I liked #1 the best for those reasons.
FYI, I think it's important that you have the word "meat" in it. There are other kinds of smoke and smokers.
Well after much deliberation and all of your comments I tried putting the top three together and here is the final logo...let me know what ya think....and again thanks for ALL the in put.
