Hey guys, hoping someone can shed some light on some tips for me.

I smoke with a MES 30 and after having troubles getting any smoke from it at temps below say 220, I ordered myself a 12” AMAZEN tube. I’ve used it twice and man does it ever put the smoke out. First was on some bacon pork bellies and they came out nearly brown. Still good.

Second was today using it to add smoke for jerky that I did at only 165. I used a mix of mesquite and apple today, and well...the jerky is in the composted. Haha. Terribly bitter. So I’m obviously pumping WAY too much smoke from it.

So, what can I do? Searching back a bit on here I see that I should have went with the tray for my smoker but you know what they say, hind sight is 20/20.

Any help??
Thanks,
Dave

I was hoping someone would suggest that!! That was one idea I had in my head, and hope for a confirmation of it. I will give that a try, thanks!

I have a gen 1 mes 30 , and the 12" tube . I added the mail box mod to mine . the tube inside the smoker , can be to much most of the time . I have done the same as preacher , but sometimes that setup wants to burn to fast .
I have great success with the tube and the mail box set up .

I have a MES 30 as well.
But I pretty much only use my mailbox mod, and AMNPS tray.
Which I got because the tray does pellets or dust, and I'm about totally sold on makin dust from my stash of pellets.
But you could try using your tube in a mod. Or even just a piece of 3" pipe stuck in the chip feeder hole, and your AMNTS
stuck in the pipe for a try.
But it will likely still make mucho smokeo.
You could dissolve a couple of hand fulls of pellets, dry them out in your MES, then try them in the AMNTS.
Might or might not work to slow down the smoke.

But I didn't like the tray in my smoker. I thought it was like putting an ashtray in there. :emoji_stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::emoji_unamused:

I use the tube(s) quite often.Yes the tube inherently puts out a lot of smoke but this can be tempered with the use of the u-bolt mod.Click on the link in my signature to check it out.

I have the same setup as you. I sometimes fill my tube half or three-quarters, then shake it even across the tube.
I'm a visual guy, so when I started my smoke today, I took a pic to show you what I was explaining.

Exactly how you described it Preacher Man. Might not smoke slower but should at least be half as much smoke going.

And Norman I looked at that link, I like that idea. Makes sense, it will burn downward slower than it would straight across.

I will try both of these ideas soon.

I use the clamp on the front of mine to create an angle . The back I just leave sit on the surface . It is a definite improvement , and a great idea . Credit to Normanaj for that idea . I get about the same burn time , but it's alot cleaner .
