Hi everyone, my wife and I live in Warrensburg, Missouri, just fifty miles east of Kansas City, the BBQ capital of the world in our opinion. Being from this part of the country I've always had a passion for BBQ but have never been able to participate, since we've always lived in apartments. When we moved into our first house a couple weeks ago the thing I was looking forward to the most was purchasing a smoker. Right now I'm leaning toward the Masterbuilt 30 with the window but am a little turned off by the price. I've been researching for over a month now and can't seem to find a better option so I would really appreciate any advice or other information on the topic. I originally wanted a real charcoal/wood burning smoker but with both of us being full time students with hectic schedules and homework I think electric will work a little better with our lifestyle. I think this site will be an excellent resource both for the purchase as well as future endeavors in smoking,I can't believe this is the first time I've stumbled across it. Again any help would be greatly appreciated, can't wait to start smoking!

bmoore, evening and welcome to the forum..... congrats on your new home.....  I have the MES 30..... I would suggest you save your bucks and get the MES 40 and get an Amazin Pellet Smoker with Pitmaster's Blend to start with......  The 40 has more even heat and fewer problems than the 30....

Amazing Products has an add on the carousel.... Todd, who designed, built and sells them is a member here.... The 2 pieces are a match made in heaven when it comes to smoking...  Dave

. Glad you found us. You're going to love it here. The folks are friendly and always willing to lend a hand. I'd have to agree with Dave. The MES 40 is an awesome unit and combined with the AMNPS it just takes it to the next level. About the cheapest place I've seen the 2nd generation MES 40 has been Sam's @ $299.98 compared to Bass Pro Shop's price of $429.99. Good luck and get to smokin'!! BTW, we love pictures of smoked things around here.

Welcome to the SMF Family...Keep your eyes open for the Christmas Sales. Cabela's dropped their MES prices $100 last year and the MES 40's at Sam's are a great deal. I have a 20070311 MES 40 all SS in and out. Works flawlessly...JJ
