So, I'm in the market for a charcoal smoker. I've settled on the Napoleon Apollo, but I just don't know what size to get. The 16" or the 19". And it really comes down to instant gratification, or waiting until I have enough saved up for the bigger version.  I'm starting to think the 16" will be big enough for me and my family, me, wife, 2 kids...but...I just don't know!  Any help I can get from you fine folks, would be greatly appreciated!

Figure what your families needs are, then go one bigger! A full rack of ribs or packer brisket won't fit in a 16 unless you cut them. The more you smoke the more you will want to smoke and there will be no shortage of family and friends wanting to help fill your smoker...JJ

Agree with JJ and Al...although I don't know anything at all about the 2 smokers you're considering, I would always suggest the bigger one.

The Chef is right on the money......Always go one size bigger, you will not regret it!!

Not going to like that 16 choice when you do decide to do whole racks of spares or a nice big packer.  You know the saying:  go big or go home!

Thanks for the input guys!  You have convinced me to save a little bit more and go with the 19 incher!  I've already nailed down the wireless thermometer that I want, and also figured on getting a charcoal chimney.

And SeenRed, the Napoleon Apollo is a vertical bullet smoker, very similar to the Weber Smokey Mountain, but it has a few things standard with it that I like over the WSM.  Reviews I've read are pretty good too as for quality, build, etc.

Thanks again folks!
