I love Hickory, but I'm a smoke hound.
However I would not use Mesquite by itself.
Maybe Mesquite mixed with Apple???
I guess it's like Todd hinted---depends on how smoky you want it.
BTW: Those first pics look nice----That's gonna be some great BBB.
