Am now looking for a decent meat slicer. I cannot swing a commercial Hobart right now, although that is what I would like. Have looked at a few on ebay and there are some on craigslist. The same kind you find at walmart and such. I have checked a few out and read some reviews, but like anything, some reviews are good and some are bad. I don't know a thing about them and don't want to get one that will bogg down when slicing meat or cheese. Anyone have any recommendations? Would like to keep it under 200 bucks.

I don't have a slicer yet myself, gonna try and grab one on Black Friday.
I know Ron has done a few reviews of slicers and could probably give you some good advice on them when he comes along.

I've got a Deni 14250, I think I paid $75 for it. I've sliced a lot of meat with it over the past year with no issues. I bought it based on a review by ShooterRick;

I've been using a waring pro for a lot of years now, and it has always treated me well.
Just yesterday I sliced up three batches of bacon on it, and it didn't even get hot to be honest with you.

As long as you take your time, and don't want to slice every day like a deli, there is no need to spend more money than you would for this unit.

I believe the Waring pro is marketed under several different labels so if you shop around you can find some good deals on them...

Either Cabela's or Bass Pro has a Chefs Choice on sale right now...

Hoser, that's some very practical advise. Points to you.

I have two slicers and I got both of them on E-bay for well under 50 bucks well mine was 26 and the wifes was 48 and we use both of them. If you can wait for one I would go to E-bay.

Thanks everyone, especially hoser and Ron. Like I said, I don't know a thing about them. And yeah, I guess I should not expect to cut meat like they do in the deli, real fast like. Going to shop around on the ones you all suggested and see who has the best price. Thanks again.

I am sorry because I don't recall the ad I previewed but it might have been WalMart. The waring pro will be on sale. Just google black friday and go to one of the BF sites and download the WalMart sale sheet.

Good Luck,
