Was planning to do a rack of spare ribs today and had been thinking about the mail box mod for sometime. Most people have had pretty good success but I didn't have a mail box laying around but I had a cardboard box...so. Now I hope it doesn't catch fire

. Three hours into the smoke and it seems to be fine. We had some rain and rather that sit it in the water I put a small piece of diamond plate aluminum I had laying around on a couple bricks. Kept it out of the water so the cardboard didn't get wet. I will let you all know how it goes!

( hope the ribs don't taste like charred cardboard if a flame starts)...I keep a close eye on it but it actually feels only warm to the touch.

Actually David, I wrapped some of that high heat aluminum tape around the lower inside area that is closest to the tray. Seems like it will be okay. And yes...I will let you know. Hopefully no pictures of charred cardboard..LOL
