Wife said, so did I.........

Oops anyways,,,,,,, decided to turn some A-MAZE-N pellets into dust today.

Got 5 handful of pecan pellets and soaked them in water for 10 minutes. Laid them out on a cookie sheet and roasted them in an oven @ 280* for 60 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Never did I crunch them by hand. Pretty darn dusty. Maybe a little on chunky side but I can always moosh them to a finer point if really necessary.

Yep, good way to make dust. Just did a couple sheet pans full while I was smoking almonds.

So one question...cherry pellets don't like to burn well by themselves in amnps, do you know if cherry dust does?

I haven't used cherry pellets for a long time. Alder, Apple & pecan are my go to flavors. Hopefully someone will chime in with an answer for ya.

I have used cherry dust numerous times. Have been able to use pellets in tube but won't stay going in tray .

I use it for cold smoking cheese, butter, fish, etc. It produces a heat and smoke far less than pellets.

I’ve never tried using the dust. Is it really worth the effort?

Never used it myself so not sure. For cheese smoking they say gives off less heat. Some members swear by it.

I don't have a tray.
I can get cherry pellets to burn solo in a tube IF I dry them in the oven for a couple hours. I still blend in ~20% oak pellets
